Biography
Jeremy Ryan is currently a freshman at Westlake High School. He is involved in track by throwing discuss and shot-put, umpiring in the T. O. Little League and, most importantly, giving back to the community by being an active member in the Westlake High Key Club and volunteering his efforts with the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks.
Even before joining the Key Club, Jeremy has spent countless hours with Kiwanis by serving the community at such events as Wheels To The Sea, barbeques for Cancer Victims, The Eggstravaganza, CROP Walk, Relay For Life, Helping the Children of Honduras, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, breakfast and song at the Thousand Oaks Health Care Center, collecting gifts and funds for the needy at Christmas, California Coastal Clean-Up, and many others. For his efforts, Jeremy has been recognized by the Kiwanians as co-recipient of Rookie of the Year (along with his dad) and the Everyday Hero Award for outstanding community support.
He is now running for CVD Junior Grand Marshal for 2008 and is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks. In order to be recognized for this position, he must be involved in a number of fundraisers that will benefit CVD and a charity. Jeremy has chosen Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County as his charity. His goal is to raise $5,000 by the deadline of April 25, 2008. To that end, various food sales, barbeques, donations, badge sales and other events will, hopefully, achieve his goal.
All of us involved are very excited about this challenge but realize we have a short amount of time to achieve it. Anyone interested in supporting this effort can send their tax-deductible check to:
